Breakdance design library

What is the Windmill Library?

The Windmill Library is a collection of blocks & components designed to transform your design and development process in Breakdance. Through our design agnostic blocks you can easily setup your next website project in hours, not days!

What does this mean?

Building websites over and over again can get quite tedious. Especially when you are building the same blocks/sections and components over and over again. You could come to the conclusion that building a design library for your agency or freelance business, to speed up your webprojects is a fantastic idea. The only problem is that it takes alot of time to build and in the mean time you need to keep the business running.

Here is where the Windmill Library comes in…

We have actually done the work for you and created a collection of blocks for you spread over 21 categories(headers, footers, hero sections, features sections etc.). We also plan to create page templates and woocommerce blocks to further expand the collection. Think about having a library or database of pre-made design agnostics blocks to your disposal. How much time would that save you?

But Breakdance will soon release their design library? Should I just wait for that?

This is a true and a valid point. From what we have seen there will be full design templates, which is very valuable to give inspiration when starting a webproject. You can even take specific sections and use in your projects. Those that do not posses great design skills can quickly take this templates and setup a good looking website in a short time.

Do we even need the Windmill Library?

Good questions! I thought you’d never ask!

  1. Using a full website templates means you have to remove the pre-made styling to actually set yours.

With the Windmill library we have created blocks that are simple bare bones. Which means you can easily style it to your brands look and feel. Our blocks are not overly designed and can be used as building blocks to quickly mockup a page.
  2. The Breakdance design library does not come with a Figma design file.

With the Windmill Library all the blocks are available to you in Figma. This means you can actually tweak the blocks to your liking in Figma and get the approval of your client before even touching the Breakdance builder. All the blocks in Figma are also available in the Windmill Library in Breakdance.
  3. You cannot create wireframes with the Breakdance design library

With the Windmill library you can acually wireframe pages and get approval of your client in the browser. You simply change the colors and use gray scale images and all is set. Simple and quick wireframing to quickly show your client how the website will look like. We have actually thought about the design and development process, making things easier and better.
  4. The design library of Breakdance is a good feature but it has it’s limitations. You can only filter a block using it’s category name.

With the Windmill library you can filter the section/block based on it’s category, text alignment, content alignment and columns. This way you can easily find what your are looking if it’s available. As the library grows more sections and blocks will be available for use.

What more can you expect?

We plan to design and build more blocks. You can look forward to our page templates which will showcase different page designs of a website(home, about, services, contact etc..) You will have different variants to choose from adding even more creative design’s into your arsenal. Furthermore we will also add woocommerce blocks to the library which will be of great value when setting up a webshop with Breakdance. This is what you can expect from us as we move forward.
